I bought this watch for my boyfriend as a kind of engagement gift, as we both bought each other pocket watches. He says the picture doesn't do it justice-- it is a very stunning watch! Nothing seems to be wrong with it at all, and the quality appears to be of the highest. I did notice that the "proper" way to close the watch is to hold down the button so the mechanism won't break. Personally I wish this was not so fragile, as I'm fearful it may break on accident during normal daily use (it is intended for use, not decoration, after all) but we plan on being very careful with it. As of now I don't expect anything to go wrong but if something changes I will update this review!

This is my first mechanical watch, its its pretty solid.

The plastic face on the front feels a bit flimsy, but its not a huge deal. I use it every day, and its doing me good. Just make sure you wind it every night before bed, and check the time against say your computer or cell phone ever few days (i do it once a week)

I've been "into" dragons forever (born in the year of) and recently became interested in pocket watches, so I just had to have this. It is heavier, more substantial, than most of the other pocket watches I own due to the amount of metal that makes up the beautifully sculpted dragon. It really feels great in the hand and just looks fabulous. There are only two minor issues: 1) the lid does not always open fully when released, probably due to the aforementioned weight and, 2) setting and winding this piece is a bit tricky as the dragon's "horns" wrap part way around the crown. Neither of these is anything like a deal breaker. I love this watch and really enjoy sharing it with friends, especially those who are dragon fans.

Just received. Beautifully done. Concidering the design, engineering, and assembly required it's a steal at this price.

This is a display piece, not really a carry around watch, well, not without a good protective watch pocket. It's delicate.

If there's a watch lover on your list, this will do it. They didn't make this with a cookie cutter.

Nice box, I bought the stand too. Only time will tell how accurate it is. Being completely mechanical it's going to be off some (probably).

Charles-Hubert, Paris Mechanical Pocket Watch Review

My first Amazon review - normally wouldn't write one, but couldn't let this great watch go by with just a one star rating.

Yes, the instructions says wind 30-40, but HALF-TURNS. That is 15 full turns. I don't like winding a watch fully, I wind this one 10 half-turns each morning. I almost missed in the directions on how to close the watch - depress the release mechanism, close the lid, and then release the button. This way the clasp won't get damaged.

Assuming that the previous reviewer didn't over wind their watch, this watch has a lifetime warranty for the movement against defects.

Nowhere does the watch or paperwork say anything about the country of origin. From China? Possibly, but I have had Chinese movements that have bested the movement of my one expensive Swiss watch.

This watch isn't no lightweight either. It's made of brass which is heavier than steel. It's got just the right heft to it.

The pictures don't do this watch justice - it is just beautiful. Not gaudy or flashy and comes in a nice presentation box. Looks like the back can be engraved easily. The hands glow in the dark, although how much "charge" it can get in your pocket....The watch window is plastic, but the window on the cover appears to be glass.

I keep mine open on my desk at work. It sits very nicely and has a calming affect on me.

My advise? Get this watch and write an honest review - time to move it up in the ratings!

As of the writing of this review, I have owned this watch for just over 2 months. I use this watch every day; I prefer not to wear a watch on my wrist. The circumstances that this watch experiences are in the following manner: Fully wound every morning, tethered to my belt and resting within a front pants-pocket. It gets checked and opened perhaps 30 times in a given day. At the end of the day it goes in a drawer on the nightstand.

The performance has been fully satisfactory. A full wind will last for roughly 40 hours. It has never stopped ticking short of its anticipated wind-down. It has started to gain nearly 60 seconds in a 24 hour period, so I have gotten accustomed to setting it backwards about 1 minute in the morning when I wind it up.

The finish is very pleasing. The area near the crown has started to show very minor abrasions from the chain rubbing against it in my pocket. The closing mechanism as well as the hinge have held up perfectly with no indications of breakdown; squeaking or clicking when it shouldn't.

The included chain is of good quality, and is the type that hooks over your belt, not the type that clasps around a belt-loop.

The "half-hunter" window enables easy checking of the time without the need to open it, with the roman numerals painted in black on the front. The black hands of the watch offer good contrast, making it very easy for me to tell the time at a quick glance.

Overall I call this a very classy, high-quality watch.
