My reactions when I first saw this watch were: 1)Impressed, 2) a little bummed and then finally 3) satisfied.

I bought this watch for my best man and had it engraved for him with his name on it. When I received this watch, the front was very bland. It just had his name engraved on it, in a standard, very readable font that i didn't get to choose. This watch is small, smaller than what you traditionally think of when you think of a pocket watch, about 1 inch across is right.

However, this watch's small size doesn't detract from it's durability, this feels like a well made watch, it has good weight and the chain is also very sturdy and doesn't leave anything lacking. The watch face is nothing fancy as you can see from the picture, it looks kind of cheap upon close inspection, but like I said, it holds up. The watch hands aren't cheap and are very sturdy, and the watch face was also firmly attached. I think the only thing lacking from this pocket watch was that it was a little TOO bland.
