Swiss Watch International 24 MM Bone Genuine Ostrich Strap 24OS05M Review

As advertised, it's marked genuine ostrich on the back of the strap and the quality of the leather, stitching and medium thick padding seems to be very nice. However, it was only packaged in a thin, cellophane sleeve with only a white bar code for a label, so no idea what brand it is or where it was made. Therefore I also have serious doubts as to the validity of the very high suggested retail price that they claimed for this strap. It did come with very easy to use spring pins already installed in the ends of the straps. Anyway, it's quite unique as leather watch straps go.

I placed the band on a watch,the color was good and it fit my wrist perfectly which would make the band on the short side as I have a small wrist. The watch is only 34mm lug to lug and the band OAL is difficult to measure once installed on the watch. You may want to check the OAL of the band before you buy.

I was looking to replace a watchband for a Breitling "Wings" model wrist watch. This presented a less expensive alternative in the proper 19mm width and in a long length. It is attractive but seems a bit on the thin side and for such a thick watch perhaps a bit disproportionate. However, perspiration has already ruined the original band and its rather expensive replacement. We will just have to see how this one holds up. I was surprised on the thin aspect but indeed it was part of the manufacturer's description (again proving you need to read every word).

NATO James Bond-Style Nylon Watch Strap Band - 18mm - Black Red Khaki Stripe Review

Chromed rings, non-stitched and the fabric is a bit on the thin side but it does feel Ok. It's best if your watch doesn't have a lot of space between the lugs and the case but even if it does, this won't come off as it's a three-ring looped design; and once worn the watch will stay put firmly on your wrist. I think this particular color scheme was the original Bond/ Brit Army one, and it does look rather nice on a sporty vintage diver or military type watch with either a light or dark face. Looks great on both. I even tried it on a very old steel zenith Sporto and it didn't look all that out of place. It's a pretty band. Quality-wise I don't see any difference between this and the ones sold by DeBeers, looks exactky the same and has a very nice price.

The right look, a good width, a good thickness, & softened quickly for a comfortable fit.

I have a few watches that are military issue or military inspired style. The provided strap (in most cases) is a webbed nylon NATO type that is easily sized to any wrist. That's fine for service use, but if I want to dress up the watch, I'm looking for leather. This strap hits right on target of the classic military look without being too casual or dressed down. Many of the straps that fall in the same catagory (military leather) are quite thick (4~5 mm) which is more rugged than needed for my needs. This strap bridges the style/comfort gap nicely. The best part of all is that it's thin & classy enough to dress up any service watch & still fit under a shirt sleeve.
