I chose this style as opposed to the typical dome mainly for accessibility to the watch itself, with a plus being less area to dust. The stand itself has a good amount of weight to it, so even with a small base it wouldn't tip over if bumped into. The bottom itself has green felt on it, so no need to worry about scratching any surface you may choose to rest it on. It states that it's gold plated where other choices did not. Have to admit that did influence my choice (better quality?),no matter how many microns thick it may be. Seems to be built rock solid, with workmanship you can proudly display. All in all a great choice!

I had been wanting a pocket watch for some time and I finally pulled the trigger and bought this one.

For my watch personally here are the cons I've noticed:

Gains time, approximately 13-15 seconds per day.
The hinge squeaks if you let the cover fly open (Don't do that)
The finish seems to be rubbing off of the loop that connects the chain to the watch.

Given these, I still love the watch, and thus it is worth 5 stars to me.

For me, it was a great first purchase and I recommend it as such. A nice gift or purchase for someone who is interested in pocket watches, but wants a certain level of quality a store like Target can't match.

The case is very attractive though not very functional. I believe a few modifications would improve this product. The snap on the back of the case that goes over the belt will come undone when the watch is removed. Perhaps if the strap was sewn to the case this problem would be eliminated. Also, the metal inside the case that holds the front snap on, will eventually scratch or scar the crystal on an open face watch. A covering over this metal would be a protector of the crystal. Otherwise, this case is more suited to a watch with a Hunter's case.
